Centennial Park

Centennial Park is unmatched in beauty and panache. It features a sunken garden, Lake Watauga, and a bandshell for amazing views. For more activity, there's a one-mile walking trail, an exercise trail, and sand volleyball courts. A dog park is also on the grounds. The most famous attraction is the Parthenon, constructed in 1985. The original Parthenon in Greece was a former temple dedicated to Athena, an ancient deity. Nashville's art museum is also there, with 63 permanent paintings by American artists, including Frederic Edwin Church, Benjamin West, Lillian Genth, and George Inness Jr., all donated by James M. Cowan. You can also hold an event or see exhibits of the paintings and the extraordinary artistry of architecture of the Parthenon.

Beaman Park Nature Center

A 1700-acre nature paradise located a few miles outside of downtown. It features vast tracts of forests and natural thickets. You can experience bungee jumping or just peruse the paid library at the Beaman Park Nature Center. Walk your dog on the nature trail as you take on your hiking session. For the best hiking experience, visit the Henry Hollow Loop. Davidson County’s Beaman Park is often overlooked, but worth taking another gander.

Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park

Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park is near the honky-tonks in downtown Nashville. History is recalled with the great monument, sending you back to the Confederate and Union wars. There's also a 200-foot granite plaque with the state's map and a 95-bell carillon leading to the man-made fountains in the Tennessee River. Bicentennial Capitol Park is a summer favorite among the locals, with numerous festivities and concerts in the amphitheater.

Radnor Lake State Park is among the best parks in Nashville. Why? Its location in the urban core makes it a tranquil, thought-provoking place. Experience the scope of nature and the calm breeze from the lake while hiking the 7.75-mile trail. The rough terrain hums with a profound connection to fauna and flora. Radnor Lake State Park is a hidden jewel for a nature enthusiast as it’s home to different birds and plants. Alas, jogging, pet walking, and biking are restricted. However, these activities can be enjoyed on the outer Creek Road Trail.

Bells Bend Park

The cultural effects on nature, the agricultural past, and wildlife exploration are present in Bells Bend Park. Different breeds of migratory birds and other wildlife call the 800+ acre park home. The park is 15 miles away from downtown. Schedule a ranger-led bird tour or take a night hike to experience the ambiance with little disturbance. Alongside the park is the Bells Bend Outdoor Center, with a nature center and guided tours. They also teach gardening and environmental conservation. Six miles of walking trails, including a 2.3-mile loop trail, are also other activities. There is nothing better to take you off the street hustle and urban noise than a trip into nature. You can even bring your dog on a leash!

Riverfront Park

Spanning eleven acres across Glitzy and Honky Tonks in South Bradway, Riverfront Park is a relaxing oasis for Nashville residents. It includes breathtaking views of the Cumberland River and connects to a dog park, a greenway, and an open BBQ area. Commemorating the early life of the land, it has sculptures of the settlers from the 1700s. A minimalist amphitheater holds plays and concerts with a backdrop of the Cumberland River.

Cumberland Park

Cumberland Park is along Nashville's riverfront, between the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge and the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge. It's ideal for outdoor activities and relaxation. Cumberland Park was part of the Riverfront Revitalization Plan, which led to the building of The Lawn, an open area for events. An amphitheater with a capacity of 1200 holds events and concerts year-round. Other activities are in The Hollow, The Scoops, and The Gorge, where The stone arrangement on the path is designed to attract butterflies.

Fannie Mae Dees Park Picnic Shelter

The locals refer to this place situated outside Hillsboro Village as “Dragon Park.” Much to the children’s delight, a stunning mosaic sculpture of a dragon resides in the center of the park. Built by artist Pedro Silva, this sculpture displays intriguing designs by local artists. While the mosaic dragon is iconic, Fannie Mae Dees Park offers much more. The park is home to a shaded and foam-surface playground that is wheelchair accessible and includes various play areas assorted by age groups.

Edwin & Percy Warner Parks

Edwin & Percy Warner Parks are the two biggest municipal parks in Tennessee. They cover 3,100 acres of fun-filled amenities and vegetation. Only nine miles from Nashville's downtown, the Warner Parks take in almost one million visitors annually. You will find a nature center, a dog park, hiking trails, picnic shelters, and mountain biking trails in this vast terrain of vegetated land. It's also a center for cross-country marathons at city and state levels, golf courses, and athletic fields for track events. The Warner Parks are gazetted with the National Register of Historic Places as a community resource.
