Sarah Benson Park

Sarah Benson Park, formerly known as Thompson’s Station Park, is located in the heart of the town center and offers stunning scenery and wildlife. It has a playground, over four miles of walking trails, workout equipment, picnic areas, ball courts, meadows, and pavilions available for events. It is a great place to take the family for an afternoon of fun. The walking loops provide plenty of opportunities to explore the park’s lush foliage and wildlife. Sarah Benson Park is a wonderful destination to spend time outdoors in Thompson's Station. Sarah Benson Park is open from dawn to dusk and is great for spending a day exploring.

Preservation Park

Preservation Park is a 200-acre park that provides visitors with an array of recreational activities. It used to be a grazing pasture and took part in the Civil War’s Battle, but it is now the town’s newest park. The land is maintained in a natural state through a trust with the State of Tennessee. The trail system winds through the expansive wooded areas offering magnificent landscape views. Bird watchers delight in spotting various species that make their home in this area while strolling along the trails or relaxing at one of the picnic tables. As Preservation Park continues to grow, more amenities and resources become available.

Heritage Park

Heritage Park, situated amongst rolling hills and lush forests, comprises 96 acres leased to Williamson County Parks and Recreation. This area provides several miles of walking trails over rolling hills and through the woods, plus it offers up to five ball fields. The fields vary in size and sport, with most being suitable for baseball, soccer, football, and more. The two walking trails, including Stephen’s Way Trail and Alexander Trail, range in distance and difficulty. The latter connects to Sarah Benson Park over the northern hill. Heritage Park will deliver a memorable experience whether you want to exercise or have a picnic.

Battlefield Trail Hilltop

Battlefield Trail Hilltop is located in the beautiful rolling countryside of Preservation Park. Visitors gain access to historic Civil War battle sites and breathtaking views overlooking nearby cities, such as Nashville. Guided tours, including of Fort Granger, are available to explore the various points of interest related to the Civil War battles near this location. The Battlefield Trail markers were developed and sponsored by collaborating with the Tennessee Civil War National Heritage Area. Enjoy a day-trip hike through the 3.4-mile loop, filled with beautiful flora and gorgeous views. Battlefield Trail Hilltop allows history buffs to explore some fascinating sites while giving outdoor enthusiasts breathtaking vistas from atop Tennessee’s hillside terrain.

Nutro Dog Park

Nutro Dog Park is one of the best for pet owners. Mars Petcare and Outdoor Encounter partnered with the town to construct it in 2014. The park provides open space for dogs to run, play, and exercise. It is four acres and is double-fenced. There are two large areas, one for smaller dogs and one for bigger dogs. Each provides ample shading and seating for owners. The park is well-maintained, with plenty of trash cans and poop bags provided. It is open from dawn until dusk and offers a safe, secure, and fun environment for both humans and their furry friends. Note that there is no running water.
